Rome is one of the most historically rich cities in the world, having one of the most influential history in the world. Walking around the center is like being in a museum. Every corner hides a picturesque view just waiting to be discovered. Additionally it's possibly one of the most photogenic cities, not to mention the to-die-for food. Italian food in general is amazing, but food in Rome was out of this world. If given the opportunity I would fly out to Rome just to have a pasta dish and enjoy the Roman atmosphere.
This wasn't my first time visiting Rome, I had traveled there on vacation with my family when I was in high school. That time around it hadn't amazed me as much and every time someone would tell me its their favorite city I would remain unfazed. It took me coming back to Rome to realize two things. Firstly, the first time I visited we barely saw anything. We visited a few of the touristic attractions and that's it, so understandably I wasn't impressed. Secondly, when you visit a city or country as an adult, you'll always view it with a different perspective. I fell in love with every corner, every cobblestone and every building! It's astonishing and when you think about the history of the city it amazes you even more. I would definitely go back hence why I threw a coin in the Trevi fountain.
Fun fact: we've all heard the axiom "All the roads lead to Rome" and while being on one of the original Roman roads I asked where that saying came from. My funny boyfriend explained to me that it was logical all the roads would lead to Rome as they were built out of Rome, which obviously makes sense yet we never think about it logically, so I like the proverb interpretation that all the methods of doing something will lead to the same result in the end.
Did you know this fun Roman fact?
Kind regards,
Carina
