Big Ben Unveiled, Again

Big Ben, the iconic clock tower, is located at the north end of the Houses of Parliament in London, and is one of the most famous landmarks in the world. It’s standing at 315 feet tall, it is the largest four-faced clock in the world and has become a symbol of London and the United Kingdom.


Did you know the clock tower was officially named the Elizabeth Tower in 2012 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, but it is still commonly referred to as Big Ben, which is actually the name of the largest bell inside the tower. 


The tower was designed by Augustus Pugin and completed in 1859. Despite its age, Big Ben has undergone several renovations over the years to keep it in good repair. The most recent renovation, which began in 2017 and recently finished, and includes work on the clock mechanisms, the roof, and the tower's masonry.


Big Ben is a popular tourist attraction, and visitors can take tours of the tower and see the clock mechanisms up close. The tower is also a popular spot for photography, and its image can be found on many postcards and social media posts.
