10 New Year's Resolutions

As promised in my first post of 2018 I'm now going to share my goals for the new year with you. I found that the best way would be through a video, in order to explain my plans and quite honestly be able to ramble while doing so. It would make me extremely happy if you would share the love and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please let me know how often you would like to see videos from me and what kind of videos. Your support and input help me out a lot.

Back to my goals. As I have tried to underline in the video, I think it's quite important to keep in mind that no one needs to wait for the start of a new year in order to set out new goals. As I'm sure you all know, goals can be set up at any time, as often as you like and if you want to. In case you do want to set up some new resolutions I hope this video will inspire you.

1. Get in shape and get healthy. This is probably the most common goal out there, but can you blame people for it? Everyone wants to look their version of healthy and feel good in their own body, and I'm no exception. As you know I have moved to London last year and sadly my diet has suffered, which means so has my health. Consequently, in the new year I wish to be more careful with my diet. I haven't kept my intolerances a secret, there's a lot of them, which makes it's frustrating to say the least. Think about it, always having to be careful to avoid a group of 15 foods is not fun and certainly not easy, but I will be more mindful from now on. I will research alternatives and do my best. In order to be truly healthy, one must also have a healthy mind. There should be more talk about mental issues and offering support or at least lend a ear.

2. Stop procrastinating. I'm not lazy by any means, but sometimes when I have ideas it's hard to know where to start and that can became overwhelming. However, just because it can be hard it doesn't mean it should stop me, there are always solutions. That's why it's time to get shit done.

3. Appreciate life and be more zen. This is the year of zen, being calm and not stressing out. Stressing out and panicking only leads to more stressing out and anxiety, so why do it? I read somewhere that if a "problem" wouldn't matter in 5 years you shouldn't stress 5 minutes about it. If you think carefully about this, can you actually remember 80-90% of the "problems" you stressed about 5 years ago? Probably not, so make this year be of zen also for you. Stressing less will help you appreciate all the small things more and life is better when you see beauty in everything.

4. Read more. Truthfully reading helps you relax and it helps you disconnect. Consider reading 10 minutes daily, it can be whenever you feel like it though a lot of people suggest before sleeping. This should help with sleep.

5. Let's get into the fashion goals, because obviously there have to be some. Similar to last year, I want to be more creative with my style. In 2017 I've introduced more color, more patterns and more textures in my style. This year I want to have even more fun with my style, venture more yet remain true to my style. Yes, style evolves, which is why I want to experiment more, but for me it's also important to keep my core.

6. Something I'm guilty of is keeping pieces that don't wow me. There is no point in having a full wardrobe of clothes I'm not going to wear because they don't inspire anything. When I buy something I want it to fit perfectly and inspire my style. This brings me to my next point.

7. Hand in hand with that is to shop less and for qualitative pieces instead of quantity. Investing in good pieces that will last for years is more sustainable and a better way of shopping. I have tried to be mindful of the pieces I add to my wardrobe and have come up with a few questions you could ask yourself no matter what the item is. Is it a good fit for my wardrobe color wise? Does it compliment my style? Can I imagine wearing it on the long run? How many outfits can I style with this piece? Is it an impulse/"trend" purchase or actually well thought? Hope these questions will also help you when deciding your next investment piece.

8. As always, I want to travel more, see more of the world and experience different cultures. Traveling gives me such a satisfying feeling and it brings me immense happiness. I can almost sense it walking down unknown streets, eating new food, seeing people smile on the streets, appreciating the beauty of a new place.

9. Spend more time with loved ones. Being busy with a job, travels, personal plans takes a lot of time and energy, however that and nothing should stop you for spending time with you family and all the people that actually matter. No matter what, always make time for the important people.

10. The last goal has to do with my blog and YouTube channel, I want to be more creative, to be more consistent with my posting and post more on my channel. Ideally I would also like have a more representative background for my videos, something that is more me. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
