Romantic Girlboss Look

Hello Dolls!

Today I felt like combining romantic elements with elegant "#girlboss" ones. The off shoulder trend is still going strong, which is why it's fun to slowly transition it into fall. Not gonna lie, creating transitioning looks with 30 degrees outside is kind of a tough task, but it's also enjoyable.

The lace top is feminine and delicate, while the wide leg/palazzo pants are formal and elegant. The chignon makes the outfit even more polished, it's simple, sophisticated and sleek. For this look I ditched the choker and added a dainty necklace, but a statement snake ring. You know I love snake accessories.

Do you like this mix of styles?

Structured Vest as a Dress

Vests are versatile pieces that can be worn to work or for a cocktail. They make you look put-together and chic with little to no effort. A fun way of styling them is as a dress, like I did today, and here are some tips on achieving the look:
  1. Quite essential would be a bodycon dress layered underneath, cause we need to keep it decent.
  2. Add a colour blocking belt that has some details for more texture.
  3. When you fasten the vest, try fixing it to the side creating a slit. While walking, your leg will show and this will elongate you.
  4. Add some fun accessories.
  5. Add some ballerinas, if you're wearing this at the office, or high heels for a cocktail look.
As you can see I opted for a choker and studded belt, both offer an edgy feel to the outfit creating more dimension. For the rest of the accessories, I opted for dainty bracelets and bow ballerinas  which compliment the bow belt. The look is classy, elegant but with a touch of edgy.

What do you think?

Sunday Style Inspo

Today I want to talk about slits, which have made their way from the runway to the red carpet and then, finally, to the street-style scene. They're not the latest trend, just one that is here to stay and mesmerise us while flowing in the breeze.

Dresses or skirts with slits, be it thigh high or lower, are flirty and sexy, but also chic. They are fun to style and wear, while instantly giving that runway feel. While wearing them, especially if there's wind, you get that sassy, confident and playful attitude. However, don't get me wrong, slits are fun also in tops or pants, not just dresses and skirts.

While shooting my last outfit, some random guy on the street had a rather vocal opinion about the way I dressed, considering it shameful, indecent and other nonsense. I don't respond to such people nor do I care about their opinion. Why am I telling you this? Because neither should you! If at any moment someone gets the wrong idea, that they are entitled to badmouth your look, keep your head high and keep walking hun! As long as you know you're decently dressed, your personal style shouldn't suffer because of random people. I've said it so many times, but fashion is about experimenting and having fun. You get to dress however you wish, not everyone will like it or approve of it, but that sure doesn't give them the right to badmouth you.

Striped Jumpsuit & Choker

After styling this jumpsuit on vacation, I've been thinking how to give it a different vibe. The jumpsuit has both horizontal and vertical stripes, off shoulder sleeves, but also slits. To compliment it I went for my Prada bow ballerinas, a delicate choker and round "Ozzy" style sunglasses.

As you've seen, I've been obsessed with chokers and this is one of the newest addition to my small collection. Chokers have appeared since 1798 and have been worn since then by ballerinas, royals and fashionable ladies. They had a huge moment in the 90's and now they're back, being all over the runways and street-style scene.

Pop of Red & Structured Crop

Yay for internet, finally! You really don't realise how dependent we are on internet until you remain without it for a few weeks. Except the lack of networking, it wasn't too bad. Went outside more, ahahah, but that could also be because I love strolling and exploring the cities I live in. Now, to the outfit:

Today is all about that pop of red we all love, in this case both on my lips and shorts. Red is such a sexy and flirty colour, which I often like to wear, especially on my lips. It's just a "girlboss" colour, that looks good all the time. I'm not the kind of woman to wear bold lipstick only at night, as I'm sure you saw by now on the blog. If I like it, I'll wear it to work, to the market or anywhere I need to be. It's all about the attitude, so if you feel empowered wearing a bold lipstick, be it red, purple, blue or black, it doesn't really matter what others think on the street, now does it?!

This time I paired the red shorts with a structured blouse, which is cropped and loose. It has black floral appliqués on the collar and a black stripe down the middle. Though very minimalist in design, the blouse has beautiful details, which is why I plan to style it more in the future. To go with the black and white theme, I added my zebra loafers. Of course, you don't have to match your bag with shoes and with your blouse, it's just that sometimes it's fun to be matchy matchy.

Do you like being matchy matchy at times?

Layering for work

Today we're talking about work attire. It's not always easy to look cute and still be work appropriate, while still getting the most out of your clothes, so why not combine some pieces together? This grey dress has a minimal design and a midi length, but a lower back which might not make it work in all offices. To make it look more professional, I added a structured cold shoulder blouse underneath. Of course this attire is fine if you work in a creative environment, where you don't have a strict dress code.

Fashion is a creative outlet and I just wanted to be resourceful with my clothing, experimenting with pieces that are already in my closet, which by the way I recommend everyone try. The structured blouse styles up the sporty dress and the statement shoes make the whole look less basic.

Would you wear this to work?

Food Diary #37 -Food Intolerances Edition

What's the worst thing that can happen to a foodie? Of course, except diseases. To find out it has food allergies or intolerances. At the end of April, after receiving some not so good blood analysis, I decided to investigate what was causing them. This led to finding out I have 12 food intolerances and I needed to be on a diet for two months while taking some homeopathic medicine.

Of course I put it off until exactly one month ago. I didn't want to be on a restrictive diet while on holiday, but did exercise some moderation and cut a few things out completely. However I wanted to hold the diet in summer because of the abundance of fresh fruit.

Here is a list of everything I'm intolerant to:
  1. Milk
  2. Soft cheese (I'm aloud to eat aged cheese and mozzarella)
  3. Butter
  4. Soy (this really hurt, because I was already replacing a lot of dairy products with soy products)
  5. Wheat ( If you know me, you know I love bread so this was devastating. However I'm not allergic to gluten so yay for that)
  6. Tea ( I almost cried for this, I have drunk green tea daily for the last 6 years at least)
  7. Coffee ( this was also pretty bad, but not as bad as tea)
  8. Honey (why?)
  9. Sugar of any kind ( Do you know how hard it is to avoid sugar? It's in everything)
  10. Cacao ( again, why???)
  11. Alcohol
  12. Legumes (beans, chickpeas, peas, etc.)

You can imagine that before starting this diet, I ate like a cow everything that wasn't permitted anymore. However, like I mentioned, there were a few things I excluded almost immediately and those were : tea, coffee, honey and legumes. I don't drink milk, but ate a lot of ice cream.

It all sounds pretty dramatic, but it isn't really. Because I'm not allergic to gluten, I was able to eat a lot of spelt pasta, quinoa and rice, which I already ate. I'm going to share today what I've been eating.

Floral Transition into Fall - 5 Tips

I can't believe summer is almost over and that we're starting to transition our wardrobe. As previously mentioned, summer is my favourite season, so today we'll start talking about transitioning one of our favourite summer pieces into autumn. There is no need to bury all of those cute summer clothes yet, some can work just fine for the beginning of fall.

The first piece is the floral dress. Florals are huge in spring and summer, but they can also work in autumn.
  1. I would suggest keeping it mono-coloured except for the floral print and quite dark in order to counteract the summer vibes from the pattern.
  2. In this case I added a loose cardigan, but you could also add a blazer or leather jacket, depending on the weather.
  3. For accessories go for wool floppy hats or fedoras or even a beanie if the dress is sporty.
  4. As for the footwear, opt for ankle boots or over the knee boots. For those warm autumn days go without tights, it will look best especially because we added the fluffy knitwear.
  5. Try adding scarves for extra texture and warmth, but be careful not to overdo it with the oversized pieces. Balance it out between the scarf and cardigan/jacket.
What are your favourite tips to transitioning a dress into autumn?

Navy Co-ords

Co-ords are fun to wear and play around with. The matchy matchy style looks put together and is super easy to wear. I created my two piece set from a navy crop top and pair of shorts, which have an almost identical colour. The crop top is made of lace, so the textures differ, but it can still be pulled off as a co-ord.

If you're thinking about buying a matching set, I suggest going through your closet first. You probably already own pieces that match and could pass as a co-ord. You can go super basic, like myself, or start layering for a different effect. Sometime in the near future, I'll share another way of styling two piece sets.

Yay or nay for co-ords?

Statement shoes in Lecco

Hello Dolls!

Long time no see with an outfit post, still don't have internet and annoyingly they just postponed the installation date, but this week I'll post my usual Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday even if it's from Cafes or Hotspot. Anyway, how's your Monday so far?

Today's look revolves around my new statement shoes, which are these silver platform flats. I love shoes and have a small collection to prove it, but usually go for more classic styles. After seeing this pair in a window, I decided it was time to add some fun pieces to my collection. They resemble a little bit the Stella McCartney Elyse shoes, which I love in silver and rose gold. Though not usually my style, I'm quite obsessed how fun and cool they look. I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea and that's perfectly fine.

For their first outing, I paired the shoes with a white dress which has some cutouts and a colour-blocking clutch in white, silver and yellow. The clutch offers a pop of colour and ties in the look. I also added a choker and two inspired bantu knots in my hair. Bantu knots come from southern Africa and are mostly styled by African and African-American women. Because this hairstyle leaves the prettiest curls, I also like to sometimes sleep with them and have heatless curls the next day.

What do you think about the look?

Moving to Milan

As you can probably understand from the title, this post will be about my move to Milan. There are so many thoughts I want to share, so I need to be sharp-witted and not ramble on forever.

This is also the reason I've been a bit MIA this week, because we still don't have internet in our flat, but let's start from the beginning. To make it easier to follow I'll divide this in a few "chapters".

Sunday Style Inspo

We all love Couture and admiring beautiful pieces, well at least I do, which is why today's style inspo is all about couture. It doesn't really matter that I have no princess ball to attend, where I could wear such a magnificent dress or suit, I still relish them.

All of the gowns and suits are inspiring and make you get creative on how to achieve a similar more toned down version of it. Researching fashion relaxes me, but also motivates me and gets me excited for all the possibilities.

Do you love Couture?

Floral Bohemian Vibes

Chokers have been all the rage lately and though hesitant, once I bought them I was hooked. This particular one attracted me because of the star detail, which I knew could be layered with another star necklace. Though chokers make a statement on their own and by no means do they need other pieces to look cool, I still like the layered style. It's playful and has a slight bohemian vibe styled like this, don't you think?

Because chokers are so 90s, I opted for a cool toned brownie nude lip and make-up look. For the rest of the look I played around with this dress styling it with ankle boots and a hat creating a bohemian inspired outfit. Do you remember this dress from my Floral look in Lecco post?

Sadly, we have entered the last month of summer. How are you all feeling about it? Personally, I wish summer would stick around a bit longer.

Off Shoulder at Golden Hour

Sicily has been wonderful, enchanting me with its turquoise crystal clear water and satisfying my hunger with its fresh fish and pastries. I'll miss the rays of sun caressing my skin and the fresh sea salt taste in the air.

My goodbye look is simple and appropriate for the hot weather, nothing groundbreaking, just off shoulder top with shorts. Similar to my last outfit, I took these pictures before sunset, which meant enjoying the golden light.

Do you have any plans for the rest of summer?
