Cooking with Cari

I love sharing food diaries, but today I though I would show you what goes into one of my favourite healthy dishes. I don't always use these vegetables, so use what combinations you like or have on hand. I also don't always add an egg, it depends if I feel like it or if I have it in the fridge.

It's super healthy and doesn't require any skills, the only thing that takes long is cooking the quinoa. Vegetables quinoa is a great alternative to other side dishes or even main meals. Both the egg and the quinoa offer protein, green vegetables help prevent cancer, are high in vitamin B and K, garlic is anti fungal, anti bacterial and anti viral, while ginger and red onion reduce inflammation and supports the immunity system. You can use normal or red quinoa instead of the black one.

Cozy Winter Days

Hi Dolls!

Finally back with an outfit post. Since winter is insisting on staying, I went for another cozy outfit wearing a bright red pullover. Told you I would wear colour again! It's been a busy period with Uni, so I haven't been able to post as often as I would like, but hopefully soon you'll get to see more outfit posts.

Girly Bohemian Hairstyle

I want to experiment more with my hair and try to recreate a lot more styles. Honestly I'm not talented enough to try anything complicated, so most of the styles I recreate are braided ones, since this comes easy to me. I get my inspiration from Pinterest big surprise there.

You will need :
- 3 clear elastic bands
- 6 bobby pins
- hairspray ( if you want )

The hairstyle is really easy and honestly speaking looked a lot better in the inspiration picture, but since it was my first time I think it went pretty well. First of all make sure your hair is tangle free, which is the most important step. I braided (dutch or french braid -whatever you prefer, since both work ) on a diagonal on both sides of my head (tied each braid separately) and tied them at the back using a clear elastic band. Then make a bun out of them and patiently pin everything in place. Ideally you would use bobby pins that match your hair colour and try to hide the pins, which makes for a cleaner look. I wasn't seeing what I was doing and didn't have any help, so some of my bobby pins are visible. I'm sure practice makes perfect so perhaps next time it will look even better.

Debby Lipstick Swatches & Review

The Debby line was unknown to me prior to my last trip to Italy. I got these as part of my Christmas present, which gave me an opportunity of trying them out. Debby is an italian based make-up company, part of the Deborah Group. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures but they are mini sized lipsticks, which is really cute. I got the kissMYlips Sheer in Nr. 56, kissMYlips laque in Nr. 33, 38 & 42 and kissMYlips duo limited edition in Nr. 8 & 3.

The colours have a decent pigmentation, especially for being sheer lipsticks. Keep in mind that they are a drugstore brand, which I thought was only found in Italy but was surprised to spot them in a Bipa. All the lipsticks are berry scented and have Shea butter in them. They are a little bit hydrating, however if you have chapped lips they will accentuate the effect.

When I first saw the Duo Lipstick I was unsure how you're supposed to use them without mixing the colours, but with a little patience it's doable and of course you can layer them. They are perfect for traveling, you want a hot pink lipstick one day and a purple one the other...you have everything in one lipstick tube. Because of the mini size, all of them are good for traveling since you can pack more colours using less space, which is pretty darn sweet for make-up/lipstick junkies.

As formula, even if they are pretty good, they do not compare to my YSL and Chanel ones, which have one of my favourite lipstick formulas. However I usually go for highly pigmented lipsticks, so it's not entirely fair to judge them equally, since the Debby ones are marketed as Sheer lipsticks. The plus side is that the Debby ones are probably an eighth of the price, so if your want to experiment with a bunch of colours it's the way to go. Hope you found this helpful.

2015 Goals

A little bit late, but this gave me time to think through what I want to accomplish this year. Firstly let's analyse how 2014 went. My objectives where to be healthier, go more often to the gym, travel more and post regularly. I'm happy to say that I managed to keep all but one.

I did eat healthier and tried to make better choices when eating at a restaurant, which was a great step forward and shows that you can always make a healthier option no matter where you are eating. I'm not saying to get a salad everywhere, but avoid deep fried foods at least. Of course it's always good for the soul to have some cheat meals. Please don't deprive yourselves, just have some restraint not to eat unhealthy on a daily basis.

Sadly I didn't go to the gym more, again I was either going on a daily basis or skipping for a couple of months. It's good that at least I worked out hardcore when I was going, but still it wasn't more than the previous year.

I was really blessed and got to travel more, experience new places and cultures, which is the most beautiful way of spending time. Travel is more important than shopping and material things, it enriches your soul and provides new challenges, teachings, making you appreciate life more. Lastly I kept my goal of posting more and having variety on my blog.

Now enough of the reminiscing and let's discuss 2015 goals. Of course I want to keep the healthy lifestyle, but most importantly exercise more. This means not just going to the gym, but working out at home, even if it's doing some crunches. I think this is more realistically since my gym is kind of far from where I live and I get lazy. Keeping up the resolution of 2014, I want to post more regularly and improve my blog. I would like to read more for myself, not just Uni. Something that I think can enrich me as a person, is to be more grateful and I want to try my best to be more thankful for the people in my life. Last but not least, more traveling please! What are your resolutions ?

Silver linings

I should really start wearing more colours, but this weather keeps pushing me to wear greys and black. For this look, I combined my faux leather pants with a loose swing shirt, creating a more casual effect to the edgy leggings and paired it with silver accessories.

In this new year I hope all of us are going to adopt a more positive point of view and understand that no matter what happens, something good will always follow. The sky won't stay grey forever and neither will the doubt in your heart, you'll get what you desired when your heart is ready.

Gold Tones on strangely sunny days

Hi Dolls!

Greetings from sunny, but cold Vienna! Since the rarity of seeing the sun happened, I wanted to create a more warm toned outfit by adding a gold statement necklace and wearing my gold striped sweater. I know Uggs are a love or hate with no in between kind of item, however they are the warmest shoes and the best for the colder months. They keep my feet toasty, which keeps me happy.

Ruffles and Leather

For my first look of the year, I decided to mix faux leather leggings and a ruffled shirt. I added a loose  cardigan and a purple lipstick for a pop of colour, otherwise the whole outfit is shockingly monochrome themed. It's a mix of vibes : cozy from the cardigan, but elegant from the blouse with a touch of edgy from the faux leather leggings and a pop of boldness from the lips. It's a perfect mix for me. Hope you like it.
