Food Diary #17

Today I want to share with you my "tropical delight" smoothie, which is like a dessert. It's so sweet and nutritious. I usually don't make all fruit smoothies, but I ran out of spinach and decided to try something new. From the bottom to the top we have : pomegranate, papaya, pineapple, banana, apple, ginger, blueberries and two teaspoons of hemp seed powder. I used pure coconut water with mango.

Hemp seeds are a rich source of protein, magnesium, Omega 3s and B Vitamins. Pineapple helps with digestion, while papaya supports the immune system and has anti-inflammatory effects. I had half a litter of smoothie and a shot of wheatgrass as breakfast. Wheatgrass is a detoxifier, which restores alkalinity to the blood, increases energy levels and improves blood sugar disorder. Overall it was a healthy detoxifying breakfast.

Day to Night Leather

Hi Dolls!

This post will feature two outfits using two basics, kind of a transitioning from day to night, while still keeping some of the pieces. The two basics I wanted to focus on are a sequin blouse and faux leather pants. Both are versatile and can be either toned down or glammed up.

For the daytime outfit I opted for some ankle booties, a draping cardigan and leather jacket. It's edgier and fun to wear, but also practical and comfortable. In the second outfit I spruced it up with a pair of heeled green sandals, which offer a pop of colour to the otherwise mono coloured ensemble. In combination with the blazer the sandals give an elegant flare to the outfit. I also like the braided buns, which I created for the first time today. They are so cute and differently than my usual hairstyles, I was just in the mood for something fun.

All Black Outfit

Lately I've been obsessed with all black outfits, it looks minimal and put together. This has been my "go to" outfit and I've worn it more times than I would like to share. It's mostly because of the simplicity and the way it fits me, I know it looks lovely every time.

The asymmetrical draping cardigan is also a new favourite, which I would like to purchase in more colours together with the distressed jeans. What I enjoy most about these jeans is the one cut exactly on the knees. I'm still loving the majorly distressed look, however in the last month I've been pulled toward this type more.

Mini Beauty Haul

 Hi Dolls!

This will be a short haul and mini review post. I purchased two of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and a mascara from Chanel. The Lip Creams have the intense pigment of a lipstick, but come in a  "lipgloss" like form. They apply smoothly and do not dry out the lips, not even a little. I found that they lasted quite long on me, even while eating. You have to let it set for about 10-15 minutes, but afterwards it stays on. I have the colours Sydney (baby pink) and Addis Ababa (bright fuchsia), however I was actually on the hunt for Transylvania (dark violette ) which was sold out everywhere.

The Chanel mascara is one that I wanted to try for some time now. I'm currently using "Sublime de Chanel" which is for lengthening and curling the lashes. It is a good mascara, however it should fade in comparison to "Le Volume de Chanel". Even at the counter they told me "Le Volume de Chanel" is more intense and overall better. Since I'm currently using the "Sublime de Chanel" I haven't opened the new one, but am quite thrilled to use it in the near future.

Food Diary #16

Today let's talk about Ramen, which is one of my favourite Asian soups. Even though I didn't visit Japan, I still had my good share of Ramen Restaurants while on holiday.

Tonkotsu Ramen is a pork bone broth based ramen. Ramen is a Japanese type of noodle soup with different toppings, predominant pork, scallions, bamboos shoots and bean sprouts.  Soi ramen is the oldest and simplest form of it, followed by Tonkotsu, Shoyu and Miso Ramen.

Brasserie Chanel

Chanel creates some of the most elaborated and beautiful scenarios for their fashion shows and this last one was no exception. They set up a brasserie/bistro like environment in which the models walked the runway, after which  some took a place at the tables or the bar. The whole concept was fresh and inspiring. I wanted to share with you some of the outfits that caught my eyes.

Bintan Island : Animal Encounter

The last post from our early spring break holiday is one filled with animal encounters. Our resort offered all kind of activities with animals, including riding and feeding elephants, feeding bunnies and fawns. It was really relaxing and different. I know I've made you crazy with so many animal posts, but this is the last one and then we're back to fashion.

Skincare Haul

Asia is known for having some really amazing skincare products, which means I had to buy some items to try. I mostly got masks, because I've heard they make really good ones and was pleased with the ones I tried until now. Not really an asian brand, but since I needed a new eye cream I decided to purchase the Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. For face wash I bought two charcoal facial foams and the Neutrogena Grapefruit Scrub, well because I love the smell of grapefruit.

At the moment I'm using the Biore Deep Detoxify, which has Charcoal and Bambus in it. It has really small particles that help gently exfoliate your skin, without over-drying it. Charcoal is known to draw out impurities, which is why I bought two similar products. If something happens, like getting a bad reaction or breaking out from any of the products I'll let you know, but they seem to work well at the moment.

Bintan Island: Stroll on the Beach

On of my favourite ways of spending the summer holidays is lying on the beach and swimming in the ocean. Even though I'm quite fair, I still enjoy soaking up the sun and reading books while lounging. Sadly because of the monsoon season we weren't allowed to swim, which kind of sucks. The weather was lovely though, always hot and the swimming pool was a good alternative, however nothing compares to the sea in my opinion.

While lounging at the pool I've read "Can you keep a secret?" and "I've got your number" both by Sophie Kinsella. They are easy reads, very witty and keep you engaged in the story line. I recommend them and intend to buy more books from the author. Next on my list are "Twenties Girl" and "Shopaholic Abroad". Do you like the author or have any book recommendations?

Not very typical, but we had to have some burgers at some point, since we are such big fans of them. Mine was with mushrooms and swiss cheese, it was freakin' delicious!

Thailand Day 4

The Grand Palace is on of the most famous landmarks to visit in Bangkok, it has a very detailed architecture and attracts a lot of visitors each day. It was different and a learning experience of the Thai craftsmanship. I have to say they do love their gold in architectural pieces.
They have a rule of covering your shoulders and knees, which I did, but was still provided with additional garments to cover myself properly. Out of respect one should be covered, I can understand that, however there were 36 degrees outside. I could feel myself slowly melting and with an extra layer of fabric it was like provoking me to melt. Anyway, I respect their tradition.

Thailand Day 2 : Tiger Cuddles

This was easily the most extraordinary experience of this holiday and one of the best days of my life. As I have stated a few times during the years, I am an animal lover and adore encountering some of the most magnificent species. This time around I had opportunity to meet, feed, wash and cuddle tigers. One of the things that made me so happy, except cuddling baby tigers of course, was that this place was a wildlife sanctuary in which tigers were rescued. They are treated very kindly and have a lot of space to move freely. I was scared that perhaps they will be poorly handled or drugged in order to make it safe, but thank God they were in the best condition and seemed so happy. I wish I could have taken one of the cubs with me or stayed there to cuddle them daily. It was an incredible experience and it's safe to say they stole my heart, I will cherish these moments forever.

Thailand Day 1

Hey Dolls!
The next stop on our vacation was Thailand. Bangkok really surprised me, in a positive way. It's much more modern than you have heard or imagine, it's full of gorgeous skyscrapers and shopping centres. The people are so friendly and helpful, that I felt safe to walk everywhere, even in more dodgy neighbourhoods. We spent the first day visiting and admiring Temples.
